NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team wraps up its fall semester with a Friday night tilt at ECAC foe Union. The Warriors are coming off a weekend split against New Hampshire when they claimed a 4-2 win Saturday at Lawler Rink, before a 5-2 setback Sunday in the Granite State.
Five Things To Know
- Sophomore Logan Drevitch had a career night Saturday against the Wildcats. He played a hand in all four Warrior goals and had two goals and two assists for four points, which was a career high for him. It was the first time since Nov. 18, 2017 when Jace Hennig, Jared Kolquist and Ludvig Larsson all had four points against Providence in a 6-6 tie.
- Tyler Irvine has steadily turned into Merrimack's top point producer this season. The senior is currently riding a three-game point streak after he registered three points in the weekend series against UNH. He now has three separate three-game point streaks this season.
- Merrimack's special teams has been strong in recent weeks and that was evident against the Wildcats. The Warriors scored three power play goals Saturday, which was the first time they've done it since Dec. 8, 2017, on the way to the win. They also finished a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill in the two games. Merrimack is now 18-for-19 on the PK over the past six games.
- Chase Gresock also goes to Schenectady riding a three-game point streak. He has been one of the more dangerous forwards in Hockey East over the past couple weeks, as he has totaled six points in those three games. That includes his first collegiate hat trick Nov. 30 against RPI.
- The Dutchmen have struggled offensively in the first semester of the season with just 26 goals in 16 games. Union enters Friday with a 4-12-0 mark overall, but have found some success in ECAC play with a 3-5-0 record, which includes wins over RPI, Princeton and Brown. Darion Hanson has started all 16 games between the pipes and carries a .908 save percentage and 2.84 goals against average.
