NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – For the second time in three weeks, the Merrimack College men's tennis duo of junior Denis Davydov and freshman Conrad Koch have claimed both of the Northeast-10 Conference's weekly awards when the league announced its Player and Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.

Winning Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, Davydov prevailed in four of his five singles matches last week during Merrimack's five-match week in Florida for spring break. Koch registered his second Rookie of the Week honor of the year after posting a 3-1 singles record. The duo also served as Merrimack's top doubles pairing in every match last week, finishing with a 3-2 mark.

Davydov went 4-1 at first singles and 3-2 at first doubles, totaling seven victories overall in a 4-1 week for Merrimack. The Warriors went 3-0 against Division II competition, with Davydov winning all of his singles sets against DII foes. Merrimack's top option posted straight-sets wins in every triumph; his own defeat came to Division I Saint Joseph's. He improved his first singles record to 7-0 against DII foes this season. At doubles, Davydov's three victories came by a three-game margin or greater, besting the top options from Trinity (TX), Millersville and Lees-McRae.

Koch won three of four singles matches and three of five doubles contests, helping Merrimack to a 4-1 ledger down in Florida last week. Koch played throughout Merrimack's singles lineup, ranging from No. 3-5. He ended the week on a three-match winning streak at singles, sweeping matches at #5 against Millersville and Florida Tech before a victory over DI Saint Joseph's at No. 4, 6-3 and 7-6 (3). Koch also posted a 3-2 record at first doubles, posting victories of 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1 against Trinity (TX), Millersville and Lees-McRae. Koch now has 10 singles wins on the year, which is tied for the team lead.

The Warriors duo and the rest of the team will have the upcoming week off before returning to action on Tuesday, March 26, when Merrimack visits Bentley University for a 3 p.m. conference match in Waltham, Mass.
