NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Playing its first match in 16 days, the Merrimack College men's tennis program won in shutout fashion, 7-0, over Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon. The contest marked the Warriors' first home match of the spring – played at North Andover High School – and the victory improved Merrimack's Northeast-10 Conference record to 2-0 on the season

  • Merrimack shifted its lineup in both doubles and singles on Saturday. Junior Alex Fedorov and freshman Jonathan Garcia took the courts at first doubles, dominating their opposition to the tune of a 6-0 final. Junior Tyler Clontz and freshman Conrad Koch paired together at No. 2 while the rookie tandem of Alec Mackay Rodriguez and Marshall Wood united at No. 3; both flights went in favor of Merrimack, 6-1
  • Junior Denis Davydov played in his usual top spot in singles, maintaining his undefeated record against Division II opponents with a sweep at No. 1 (6-1, 6-3). Fedorov and Koch followed suit at second and third, respectively, with straight-set wins. Both players shutout their opposition in one set
  • Fourth singles saw junior Paul Weidinger prevail, 6-1 and 6-3, while freshmen Andre Singer and Hassan El Alami handled business at the bottom two flights. The duo dropped one total game combined, shutting out their opponents in three of the four sets
Up Next
The Warriors will be indoors tomorrow afternoon when Merrimack hosts Queens College at Cedardale Health & Fitness in Haverhill, Mass. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
