NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Playing its first match since earning the program's first-ever Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association national ranking, the No. 48 Merrimack College men's tennis program dominated Stonehill College to the tune of a 7-0 shutout victory from North Andover High School on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors' home win gave the program its 10th triumph of the season, improved its record against Division II foes to 9-1 and kept its undefeated Northeast-10 Conference mark (3-0) intact.

  • The doubles portion of match finished in reverse-flight order. The freshman duo of Alec Mackay Rodriguez and Marshall Wood dominated at No. 3, 6-0, and junior Alex Fedorov and freshman Jonathan Garcia secured the doubles point with a 6-4 triumph at No. 2. The Warriors completed the doubles sweep at the top flight as junior Denis Davydov and freshman Conrad Koch completed a 6-3 victory
  • Five of the six singles matches finished in sweeps. Mackay Rodriguez posted the most dominant effort, conceding just a pair of games, 6-0 and 6-2, at fifth singles. Garcia edged his opponent at No. 2 in the first set, 6-4, before a blanking in his second set, 6-0
  • Junior Paul Weidinger took the courts at the sixth flight, registering another straight-sets win (6-2, 6-4). Davydov, 6-3 and 6-3, and Koch, 6-3 and 6-2, followed up the win at first doubles with victories at first and fourth singles, respectively. Davydov improved his singles record against DII competition to 9-0 and increased his sets won streak versus DII players to 13
  • Fedorov won the lone contest that went the distance at No. 3. The Guilderland, N.Y. native prevailed in his opener, 6-2, and claimed the 10-point breaker in near-shutout fashion, 10-1, to make it a clean sweep of the Skyhawks

The Warriors play the final non-conference game of the regular season tomorrow afternoon when Merrimack visits Nichols College for a 1 p.m. match in Dudley, Mass.
