Haverhill, Mass.  –  The Merrimack College men's tennis team kicked off their spring season this Friday at the Cedardale Tennis Courts, where the Warriors continued their inaugural Division I season against Boston University. The Warriors took one of three during doubles play and won in the four and six spots in singles but ultimately fell 5-2 in their first spring match of the season.

  • Each program posted victories at first and second doubles to bring the doubles point down to the third flight. The Warriors' second pairing of seniors Alex Fedorov and Denis Davydov earned a 6-3 win to offset a first-flight defeat. At No. 3, freshman Pedro de Godoy Mancini and sophomore Alec Mackay Rodriguez fell short, giving the doubles point to the Terriers.
  • Fedorov gave the Warriors one of their two singles wins of the night, winning in straight sets at fourth singles, cruising comfortably to a 6-2 6-3 victory. Freshman de Godoy Mancini also took home a comfortable win at 6-2 6-2, posting the team's best singles effort of the night.  
  • The contest at one single's between Davydov and BU's Bogatin swung the match in the Terriers favor. Davydov put up a great fight and kept it close but fell short in both sets 6-7. The Terriers took home wins at the one, two, three, and five spots ultimately edging them to a 5-2 victory.
Up Next
Merrimack's spring schedule continues February 16th, where the Warriors will take on another Boston powerhouse, Boston College. The team will head down to Newton, Mass. to face the Eagles at noon.
