NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's hockey team is set for a weekend series with New Hampshire that has plenty of postseason implications.

The teams are neck-and-neck in the Hockey East standings and are jockeying for a home playoff game with three weekends left in the regular season.

Five Things To Know
  • After he didn't play in a competitive game for 20 months, Filip Forsmark has steadily become one of the Warriors' top forwards. The sophomore has played in all 14 games and has registered at least one point in half of them. He now shares the team lead in assists with six and is second on the team in points with eight.
  • The Warriors have eaten pucks all winter long and it shows on the stat sheet. Merrimack enters the weekend ranked second in Hockey East and 11th in the nation with 14.50 blocked shots per game. Declan Carlile (32) and Dominic Dockery (25) top the list on the team, while Carlile's 3.20 blocked shots per game is the best in the country.
  • Merrimack has had to deal with plenty of mixing and matching when it comes to its lineup this season as a result of bad injury luck. After the first 14 games of the year, the Warriors have combined for an astonishing 50 man-games lost. That total includes junior forward Jordan Seyfert, who has yet to appear in a game this winter.
  • Liam Walsh has found another gear to his game during the second half of the campaign. The sophomore has totaled six points in his last six games on four goals and two assists, which includes a pair of multi-point games. His two-goal effort Feb. 7 at Providence also earned him Hockey East Co-Player of the Week honors.
  • The Wildcats have been back-and-forth in the six games since they played the Warriors last, as they swept Lowell, but got swept by Providence and Northeastern. Jackson Pierson is averaging over a point-per-game with 20 points in 19 games to lead the team in scoring. Mike Robinson has started all but two games in net and enters with a 4-10-2 record.
