Men's Soccer Takes Overtime Thriller Over Mount Saint Mary's

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack men's soccer's potent two-way play led the Warriors to a 3-2 overtime victory over Mount Saint Mary's in Maryland on Monday. Frantz Pierrot once again played hero with his golden goal, capping off the first career goals for Sean O'Neill and Dylan Barreria on the day.

The Summary
  • The Mountaineers opened the scoring on their home turf, taking a second ball opportunity in the midfield for a break in ahead of the defense finishing low right in the 22nd minute.
  • Merrimack struck back in the final minute of the half, finishing on a strong possession in the box. Sean O'Neill, set up at the top of the 18-yard box, fired in off of a short pass through a defensive flurry to tie the game up going into the half.
  • Mount Saint Mary's added its second in the 53rd minute, throwing a long ball in from the midfield. Controlled into the box, the Mountaineers finished on a rolling shallow ball for its second lead of the day.
  • From a corner kick, O'Neill's service was headed out of the fray down low and up to a waiting Dylan Barreria at the top corner of the 18-yard box with a rifling shot to the far post in the 75th to tie the game at two.
  • The Warriors headed to overtime again. In the 93rd minute Merrimack took a free kick that was sent through the midfield to a breaking Dylan Barreria. Rushing along the wing ahead of his defender, he pivoted to send a pass into the 6-yard box, where it was finished by an unmarked Frantz Pierrot for the winner.

  • Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Georges El-Khoury made his Merrrimack debut, facing five shots in the game.
  • Merrimack's offense threw five shots on goal and 11 shots on the day.
  • The Warriors drew 18 fouls in the game, including 10 in the second half.
