Five from Men's Soccer Earn All-NEC Honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – The Merrimack College men's soccer team had five student-athletes earn Northeast Conference (NEC) All-Conference honors on Thursday when the NEC announced its all-league teams and major award winners.

Representing the Warriors on the first team is junior defender Stefano Pesenti. Three players earned nods on the second team, with junior forward Frantz Pierrot, sophomore midfielder Alessandro Negri and junior midfielder Henry Osei after leading Merrimack's offensive corps. Representing on the All-Rookie team is midfielder Dylan Barreira. This is the second time Pesenti and Negri have earned NEC end-of-season honors after being named to the 2019 All-Rookie team.

Pesenti was potent on both sides of the ball, sending five shots and two shots on goal this season. Starting in all five games, he competed in over 100 minutes in three overtime contests for the Warriors. The Camisano, Italy native was also key defensively with key plays on corner services in games across the season.

The Melrose, Mass. native scored again in overtime to win the contest at Mount Saint Mary's a week later, earning NEC Player of the Week honors for his efforts. Starting in all five games of the year, he ended the season with eight points and 11 shots on goal.

Frantz Pierrot Second Team

In the midfield, Negri had an assist and eight shots, with two shots on goal. The Noverasco, Italy native was potent both on services into the box, using his height to maintain pressure down low while also anchoring the transition through the midfield.

Alessandro Negri All-Second Team

Osei was consistent with speed pressure up the wing, worked ten shots and four shots on goal in his five games started. In a draw against Fairleigh Dickinson, he was persistent with pressure through both overtimes, challenging throughout the 110 minute battle.

Henry Osei All-Second Team

Barreira made appearances in all five games for the Warriors, starting four. The Foxboro, Mass. native had a two point contest at Mount St. Mary's, firing a hard strike from a corner kick before sending a free kick in to assist on the game-winning goal.
