NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack men's soccer was just short of a comeback against Rhode Island, falling by a late Rams goal on Friday night.

The Summary
  • Teams opened the first with both goalkeepers matching saves, as Merrimack posted three shots on goal and Rhode Island four before the Rams tallied the opening goal in the 36' minute on a break into the box.  
  • The Warriors tied the game up on Trym Kyvaag's first career goal. On service in from Nehemie Lamtoukou, Kyvaag held space along the far post, handling the positional challenge from the Rams' defense to take a header in for the equalizer.
  • Rhode Island earned the game-winner in the 81' on another fast break into the box for the goal to get the lead in the gritty contest.
Stats & Figures
  • Merrimack's defense held strong against eight corner kick attempts, including six in the first half.
  • Alvaro Rodriguez faced 15 shots and 11 shots on goal on the night, for his second-highest save total this season with nine.
