Men's Lacrosse Unveils List of NLI Signees

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Merrimack College men's lacrosse head coach, Mike Morgan, unveiled a list of 12 newcomers that have signed national letters of intent to join the Warriors in the fall. 

The group includes a faceoff man, a goalie, a trio of defenders, three midfielders, two attack and a pair of players that play both the midfield and attack positions. The dozen players are set to come to North Andover starting in the fall of 2022. 

Reid Betner – Defense – Cathedral High School (Indiana)
Betner joins the Warriors after he captained the winningest lacrosse program in Indiana history at Cathedral. His long list of accolades include a 2020 Nike National All-Star selection on the Mid-America North team and he was also chosen as a 2019 Under Armour All-American. 

Jake McCarthy – Faceoff – The Haverford School (Pennsylvania)
The only faceoff man on the list of newcomers, McCarthy was ranked as a three star recruit by Inside Lacrosse. He was a three-time Maverick Showtime invitee as well as a three-time Philly I-95 cup participant and three-time inter ac championship finalist. 

Mike Kloepfer – Midfield – Scotch Plains Fanwood High School (New Jersey)
A dominant player for Scotch Plains Fanwood, Kloepfer notched 44 goals and 21 assists for 65 points to go with 37 ground balls from 2020-21. He was named the team MVP and also earned first team All-Division, All-County and All-State honors. He also earned NJ.com All-Junior team honors and was named to the New Jersey Nike Nationals All-Star team. 

Jack Kolbe – Attack – Robbinsville High School (New Jersey)
Kolbe lit up his junior season, as he tallied 80 points in 2021 for Robbinsville. He also earned First Team Colonial Valley Conference honors, the offensive MVP for the team and he also lead the Colonial Valley Conference in goals. 

Luke Szyluk – Midfield/Attack – Longmeadow High School (Massachusetts)
An incredible 85-point season in 2021 on 58 goals and 27 assists highlights Szyluk's attributes. He was named a USA Lacrosse All-American in 2021 for Western Massachusetts and is a two-time Mass Live Super 7 Select pick. He is also a four-sport athlete at Longmeadow, as he also competes on the soccer, basketball and football teams. 

KJ Delane – Midfield/Attack – Iona Prep High School (New York)
A two-sport captain at Iona Prep, Delane comes to North Andover after a decorated career. He was named a first team All-League selection after he tallied 41 goals and 21 assists in 2021 and helped the team win the Downstate championship in the CHSAA. 

Ethan Landry – Defense – Cambridge High School (Georgia)
Landry heads north to Merrimack after he has been a dominant force on the back end for Cambridge. He is a four-year varsity starter and a three-time Maverick Showtime selection and was also named to the Lax Nationals All-Star South Team. 

Gavin Levay – Defense – Paul VI Catholic High School (Virginia)
Ranked third among Class of 2022 defenders out of the DMV area and 10th overall, Levay comes to Merrimack with plenty of pedigree. He was named a three-time Iron Man award winner at Paul VI Catholic and was named to Team DMV for the Nike National All-Star games twice, including a national championship. 

Kasey Mongillo – Midfield – Trinity Pawling School (New York)
Mongillo has collected plenty of accolades during his high school years leading into his NLI signing with Merrimack. He is a four-year varsity starter and has 147 career points, but also earned second team All-State honors and first team All-Conference honors in 2021 and was also named the team MVP. He also was named a second team All-Conference player his sophomore season. 

Drew Fleury – Attack – Perkiomen School (Pennsylvania) 
Another dangerous attack man to join the Warriors, Fleury has put together an impressive career so far. He dominated during his time at Nashua High School South with 108 goals, 53 assists and 133 ground balls and was named to the first team Division I All-State team. 

Jack Parker – Midfield – Holderness School (New Hampshire)
Another New Englander to join the Warriors, Parker has been tough to stop during his high school years. Before he came to Holderness, he starred for three years with Portsmouth High School and was a first team All-State pick his sophomore season and was named a team captain for his junior year campaign. During his time with Portsmouth, he had 123 goals, 56 assists and 136 ground balls. 

Anthony Kulturides – Goalie – Cohasset High School (Massachusetts)
The lone goalie in the incoming class, Kulturides is a four-year starter between the pipes for Cohasset. He was named a 2021 Massachusetts Boys Lacrosse All-Star and has a 57% career save percentage. 

Merrimack's 2022 campaign is set to start Feb. 5 when the Warriors visit Hofstra in Hempstead, N.Y. The Warriors' home opener is slated for Mar. 5 when UMass Lowell pays a visit to Duane Stadium.
