Women's Bowling Gets Season Underway in New York

Garden City N.Y. – The Merrimack College women's bowling team opened its first season of competition over the weekend at a tournament hosted by Adelphi University. The Warriors finished ninth overall.

Rapid Recap
  • During day one of the Dezy Strong Classic, Merrimack took on the number 17 ranked team in the country, Tulane University, the Warriors battled, but fell 921 to 828. Merrimack then earned its first win in program history against former Northeast Conference (NEC) foe Bryant, winning the match by three points. Merrimack finished the day with wins over number two Vanderbilt and Bloomfield College, ended with a record of 3-2. In day two the Warriors opened the day with three losses, all against top 10 teams. The squad rebounded winning its next two against Saint Anselm and UAB. The final day of competition came and Merrimack started the day off with a win over Adelphi. A loss to nationally ranked Fairleigh Dickinson followed. The Warriors ended the Dezy Strong Classic with another win over Adelphi. The team finished the tournament with a 7-6 record overall.
Top Performers // Notes
  • Olivia Lampkin was the top bowler for Merrimack finishing the weekend with a 193.20 average, which gave her a 19th place finish overall.
  • Cassidy Anschutz was not far behind, finishing in 20th place individually after rolling a 191.80 average score.
Up Next
The Warriors get back to action on November 12 and 13 when the team heads to Pittsburg for its first NEC meet of the season.
