Women's Bowling Battles at Northeast Classic

Deptford, N.J.– The Merrimack College women's bowling team this past weekend attended the Northeast Classic. 22 out of 25 of the top teams in the country were in attendance.

Merrimack started the event leading the #1 team in the country after three games in a five game total pinfall series, but eventually lost the match. The Warriors were able to win matches against top ten ranked opponents this weekend with wins over #8 Sam Houston State Univ. and #10 University of Maryland Eastern Shore. They lost a close match to #6 Arkansas State 984 to 994. The team posted a big game of 1103 in match seven of the event against #19 Medaille, which was the highest scoring match of the weekend. Merrimack showed that they are able to win some very closely contested matches, including the match against #23 Univ. of Wisconsin-Whitewater that ended 913 to 908.
 
Top Performers // Notes
  • Olivia Lampkin was the top bowler for Merrimack finishing the weekend with a 210.6 average, finishing in 18th overall out of 230 athletes
  • Cassidy Anshutz and JaZelle Lampkin also helped lead the way for the team's success to a 4-1 record on the second day. Cassidy averaged 206.8 for five games, JaZelle averaged 206.25 for four games during the traditional game matches.
  • Logan Akau averaged 197.8 in the lead off position.

Up Next
The Warriors get back to action on January 28 and 29 when the team heads to West Long Branch, NJ to partake in the Hawks Baker Pinfall/Traditional Game Challenge against the Monmouth Hawks.
