DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Merrimack College women's golf team played through heavy wind and rain Saturday afternoon at the Jones Course at LPGA International and claimed eighth as a team in the first event of the spring season.
Yiting Pan picked up where she left off after an exceptional fall semester when she carded back-to-back rounds under 80. Her round Saturday was even more impressive, as she finished with a 76 including a trio of birdies in difficult conditions to mark a three-stroke improvement from the day before. Her effort was good enough to tie her for 15th in the 92-player field.
In another gritty effort,
Prakruthi Sastry also improved her total Saturday. After an 83 Friday, she buckled down and shot an even 80 Saturday with a birdie on the par-3 14th hole to finish in a tie for 31st.
