Garcia and Semerak Earn All-Conference Honors

SOMERSET, N.J. –  The Merrimack College men's tennis team earned significant honors from the Northeast Conference (NEC) when the league announced its all-conference teams and major award winners on Thursday. Sophomore Jan Semerak took home an All-NEC First Team honor in singles play, as well as an All-NEC Second Team in doubles alongside partner Jonathan Garcia.

The Czech Republic native finished the spring season with an impressive 11-4 record in Singles flight #1, proving to be one of the best players in the conference. In conference play, Semerak was even better as he only lost one match all spring when battling against his peers in the NEC. The Sophomore concluded the season with an astounding 6-1 record.

The upperclassmen, Garcia joined alongside Semerak three matches into the spring and they got off to immediate success as a pair. They started off going 3-0 against Sacred Heart University, Mount St. Mary's, and Long Island University. After facing a three-match set back they capped off their season with a convincing win against the prestigious Riverside City. The duo ended the season with a 4-3 record to cap off an impressive year.
