Derkack Earns Northeast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — Merrimack College Men's basketball guard Jordan Derkack was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday after he continued his excellent play in the Warriors 56-43 victory over Stonehill College on Thursday night where he had six points and his play in the win against against Saint Francis University on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Colonia, N.J. native scored 6 points in the Merrimack win on Thursday. The guard also had a team leading four assists and two steals to go along with one block in the victory. In the win on Saturday afternoon Derkack had 12 points that included some free throws towards the end of the game, finished second on the team with six rebounds, a team-high of five steals, and tied for second on the team with four assists. 
 
Derkack currently ranks fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.9 points per game. The freshman ranks fourth in the Northeast Conference for steals per game with 2.0 per contest. Derkack has 53 total swipes so far in the season.
 
The Warriors get back to action on Thursday night against University of Hartford. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
