NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Merrimack College Women's Basketball team was unable to find its first NEC win of the year in a home loss to Le Moyne.

Merrimack was looking to secure its first conference win in their NEC home opener. Le Moyne wanted to spoil that and the hot shooting of the Dolphins was what the Warriors could not keep up with. They would be down 23-15 at the end of the first quarter after a bank shot buzzer beating three from Kaylee Thomas. The second quarter was filled with even more hot shooting from the Dolphins and Merrimack fell behind by as much as 18 points. The first half did end on a good note for the Warriors as Diamond Christian banked home a near half court buzzer beater to cut the lead to 40-25.
The start of the second half was similar to the end of the first as Diamond Christian buried a three to cut it to a 12 point deficit. However, it was Le Moyne going on an 8-0 burst to push it to the biggest lead of the contest at 48-28. Merrimack would inch back in dropping the lead to as low as eleven and going into the fourth down 56-41. The fourth quarter opened with Le Moyne continuing to pour it on. Merrimack would apply full court pressure and speed up the Dolphins but every single basket had an answer from Le Moyne. The Warriors would end up falling 74-59 to the NEC newcomer.
