Cambridge, Mass. - The Merrimack College football team had two players named to the All-New England Team, as selected by the New England Football Writers Association. Defensive end
Nicholas Lenon and kick returner/ running back
Jermaine Corbett were both named to the team for the first time.
Lenon, finished the season with 10.5 sacks, which ranked him in the top 10 nationally among FCS schools. The graduate student from Baltimore also had 40 tackles, 15 which were for a loss. Lenon had two or more sacks three times, including a career-high four against a Warrior victory over Bucknell. He also had one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 11 games this season for Merrimack.
Corbett was a force in the kick return game for the Warriors. The running back from New Jersey had a total of 503 kick return yards and two touchdowns. With 14 total attempts on the year, Corbett had a return average of 35.9 yards which was best among FCS returners. At the running back position, Corbett rushed for 1,058 yards and nine touchdowns for the Warriors this season. In the receiving game, he had 20 receptions for 204 yards and one touchdown.
The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 12, at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center.
