Gardiner Earns NEC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Senior goalkeeper Isabelle Gardiner earned a NEC Defensive Player of the Week nomination after her impression performance against conference rival Rider. Her strong efforts during the win also earned her a spot on the NEC Prime Performers list as well.

Senior captain Gardiner saved 11 of 12 shots faced on Friday, allowing for the team to score 3 unanswered goals. After grabbing a 2-1 lead in the first quarter, Gardiner went on to save all 10 of the shots she had faced for the rest of the game. Her .917 save percentage is her best this season, while the 11 saves are the most this month. The win on Friday is the team's first against Rider in program history.

Thoughts from Coach Rachel Perry

"Izzy Gardiner has always been the kind of player who gives everything she has - every practice, every game, every moment. She shows up ready to work, ready to lead, and ready to give her best effort no matter what challenges the day might bring."

"That relentless drive and dedication are exactly why Izzy has earned recognition as the Defensive Player of the Week and a Prime Performer for the NEC. Her consistency, focus, and ability to rise to every challenge have not only elevated her own game but have also made a lasting impact on her team's success. Week after week, Izzy proves that hard work pays off, she doesn't just play with passion, she plays with purpose. These honors are a reflection of her commitment, leadership, and the unwavering effort she brings every single day."
