NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. –
Rachel Perry, who spent the last two seasons at the helm of the Merrimack College field hockey program, has informed athletic director
Joe Foley of her resignation to pursue other career opportunities.
Perry, who was promoted to head coach in May 2024 after one season as the program's lead assistant, will step away from coaching but remain in higher education.
"We are grateful for Rachel's time and impact as the head coach of the Merrimack Field Hockey program and wish her nothing but the best as she begins her next chapter," Foley wrote in a statement.
Perry added: "I am incredibly grateful for my time at Merrimack College and for the opportunity to lead such an outstanding group of student-athletes. It has been a true privilege to work alongside student-athletes who represent the very best of dedication, resilience, and character both on and off the field. I want to sincerely thank the administration, my staff, and the entire Merrimack Community for their unwavering support. I will always cherish the relationships built here and take great pride in what we've accomplished together."
Christina Hathaway will serve as the interim coach.
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
During the 2025 season, Perry helped the Warriors compile their most wins in a single season since joining the Division I ranks. Merrimack went 4-30 during Perry's two seasons.
