PHILADELPHIA, PA - Tye Dorset and Ernest Shelton scored 12 points apiece, but the Merrimack men's basketball team lost to Hofstra 78-58 in the Cathedral Classic.
Finishing with 12 points on the day Tye Dorset landed four three pointers which was the most for the Warriors. The Jersey native also led the team in both rebounds and assists with four each. It was the fourth time this season that Dorset had double-digit points.
Ernest Shelton matched the 12 point effort by Dorset with 12 of his own. Shelton shot 4-11 (36%) from the field and hit two 3's during the afternoon contest. It was the 7th game of eight this season where he had double-digit points. Shelton also had four rebounds which was a season high.
Kevair Kennedy had 10 points this afternoon making all four of his free throw opportunities. Kennedy has increased his 10+ point streak to six after the matchup against the Pride.
The Warriors are back in Philly tomorrow for their final matchup of the Cathedral Classic. Merrimack will take on La Salle for a 12 pm noon tip off.
