Men's Hockey Closes 2025 Home Schedule This Weekend Against Yale & Long Island

North Andover, Ma-- The Merrimack Men's Hockey team closes their 2025 home schedule this weekend as they face two different opponents as they host both the Yale University Bulldogs on Friday at 7:00 PM and the Long Island University Sharks at 6:00 PM both at Lawler Arena. Both those games can also be seen on ESPN Plus.

Nathan King broke through for goal #1 of his Warriors career on Saturday against Connecticut as he scored the opening goal, Joey Henneberry also scored his first goal for the Warriors goal in only his fifth game played this season.

Trevor Hoskin enters the weekend at a point a game pace with four multi point games in over the season so far. Hoskin is the team leader in points with 14 and that's the 11th most in the conference, he also has 11 points in 10 conference games, the third most in Hockey East.

Counting this weekend, four of the next five games that Merrimack will play will be against non-conference opponents, as they play Long Island tomorrow, before starting the year on the road with games against Brown and Holy Cross, the Warriors record against these opponents is 2-3, with wins over Quinnipiac and in their second game against Long Island, while falling to Notre Dame, Dartmouth and in their first game against Long Island.

Yale plays their final game of the 2025 calendar year tonight, seeking to break a three game losing streak. Yale has shared two common opponents thus far this season as they defeated Quinnipac 4-2 on Nov. 7th and have been beaten by Dartmouth 6-1 in two different games. Yale also has not won on the road this season.

In the past few seasons, these teams met twice in 2022-23 and 23-24, playing to a 3-3 tie (no shootout) and Yale was victorious in the last meeting by a score of 5-2. Merrimack hasn't beaten Yale since Nov. 27th 1998, a 6-3 win.

Long Island has won their last two games they've played, which broke a four game skid.

This is the rubber match between these teams as they meet for the third and final time this season. The road team has won both times as Long Island took the first meeting by a score of 5-2 at Lawler Arena before the Warriors got their win back just under a month later on the road as they scored four times in the third period enroute to a 6-2 win.
