Rapid Recap
Merrimack looked to shake off a nail-biting loss to Rider on Thursday and even up the regular season series with Quinnipiac. To start, the Warriors trailed but it was the defense that kept them in it. They scored a pair of buckets down the stretch to cut the deficit and trailed by just five points after the first quarter, limiting the home Bobcats to just 14 first quarter points. The next 10 minutes proved to be a tough one for this Merrimack squad. They we're outscored 23-6 in the quarter and trailed 37-15 at the halftime break.
The Warriors aimed to come out of the locker room and tighten the game up. The offense exploded in the frame with Merrimack scoring 19 points. Unfortunately, the Bobcats offense was just as efficient. Even with a spark provided by
Rylie Rosenberg and
Cadence Johnson, the Warriors still trailed by a large margin entering the fourth, 58-34. The last quarter saw many of Merrimack's role players get extended minutes including
Claudia Gallegos,
Kylee Fears, and
Kristen Kelley who all we're able to contribute throughout. The Warriors ended up falling to the Bobcats, 76-44.
