Women's Soccer Rolls Past Iona in MAAC Matchup

North Andover, Mass. — The Merrimack women's soccer team earned a decisive 4-1 victory over Iona University on Saturday afternoon at Martone-Mejail Field, giving the Warriors their first conference win of the season.

How It Happened

The Warriors wasted no time getting on the board, Isabella Keogh found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season. Both Ava Lovergine and Shea MacDougall were credited with the assists. Less then 15 minutes later Keogh broke through the defense and scored her second goal of the game and her fifth of the season. This time, Kellianna Caldwell and Lilly Cook earned the helper on the goal. Merrimack headed into halftime up by two.

Iona struck first in the second half with a goal in the 50th minute to bring the game within one. The Warriors responded quickly. Kyle Fuller added her team leading seventh goal of the season. Kyra Whitman earned her fourth assist of the season on the goal. In the 68th minute Maddie Eddy scored to put the game away for the Warriors. Both, Liv Campbell and Fallon Ryan had assists on the play.

Notable Performers:

Kaitlyn Brewi had two saves in the victory.
Keogh led the team with five shots on the day.
The Warriors held Iona to just eight shots.
