ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Merrimack College men's volleyball team fought tough in five sets against Dominican but fell 15-13 in the fifth set in a 3-2 loss.
Dallas Birkenbeuel and
Blake Taschner both led the way with over 20 kills each.
Birkenbeuel tallied a career high 22 kills and added on six digs in the contest. Taschner had 21 kills in the evening and finished a dig short of a double-double with nine.
Dominican won the first set 25-20, before Merrimack came back to win set two 29-27 and set three 25-23. Dominican won the fourth set 25-21, before squeeking out the 15-13 win in the final set. Setter
Reece Lindstrom had 54 assists and added five digs. Libero
Kyle Standage paced the Warriors in digs with 17.
Max Tkachev had 11 kills and tallied five digs.
Both teams head to North Andover for a rematch Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Sakowitch Center on the campus of Merrimack
