Six-Run Fifth Inning Leads Baseball Past Ball State

Charleston, N.C. -- The Merrimack baseball team blasted three home runs in a 9-5 victory over Ball State at Shipyard Park on Friday.

The Warriors scored six runs in the fifth inning after a pair of two-run blasts by Christian Scalon and Matt DeShiro (3-for-4, two RBIs).

Joey Frammartino (3-for-4, two RBIs) led the Warriors with three extra-base hits, including a first-inning home run which put the visitors up 1-0 in the top half. An RBI single by Frammartino in the eighth provided Merrimack with some breathing room.

Colby Barker (one run on two hits in 3 1/3 innings) recorded the win after he did not allow an earned run in relief.

Merrimack (1-1) returns to the diamond to face Seton Hall at Shipyard Park on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.
