ORONO, ME -- The Merrimack men's hockey team tied the score in the third period, but fell to the Maine Black Bears 5-3 on Friday night.
Maine scored the first two goals before Merrimack captain Mark Hiller found the net in the final minute to cut the lead in half before the first intermission.
The Black Bears reestablished the two-goal lead in the second before Warriors' captain Caelan Fitzpatrick scored to make it a one-goal game.
Justin Gill, who scored early in the third, marked his seventh straight game and extended his point streak to 12. Maine retook the lead for good a few minutes later and add an empty netter to finish the contest.
The Warriors look for the split tomorrow when they face Maine. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m..
