Fitzpatrick’s Five Points Sends Men’s Hockey Past Vermont

North Andover, MA-- Caelan Fitzpatrick scored twice and had five points total as the Men's Hockey team opened their weekend set with Vermont in style with a 5-2 win on Friday night at Lawler Arena.

Parker Lalonde scored his first of two goals to open the scoring on the powerplay at the midway of the opening period. The Warriors would double their advantage shorthanded as Fitzpatrick scored his tenth goal of the season, and with that goal Merrimack reached four double digit goal scorers for the first time since 2021-22. Fitzpatrick scored his second of the game four minutes later, stretching the lead to three.

After Vermont cut the lead to one early in the third, Caden Cranston tipped home the Fitzpatrick shot to re-establish the two goal lead and Parker Lalonde salted the game away with the Warriors third powerplay goal of the game in the final minutes.

Max Lundgren made double digits saves in every period, and 34 in total for his 16th win of the season.

Caelan Fitzpatrick was the first Warrior to have five points in a game since Alex Jefferies and Zach Bookman did so on November 10, 2023 against UConn. Fitzpatrick was also the first Warrior to have multiple powerplay goals in one game since Liam Walsh did on January 22, 2022.
