Baseball Takes On Mount St. Mary’s In Pivotal Conference Matchup This Weekend

EMMITSBURG, MD - Merrimack baseball travels to Maryland this weekend for an important three-game series against the Mountaineers.

The Warriors are coming off a successful weekend, where they took two of three games against high seeded Marist.

Nick Hunkele earned pitcher of the week honors for his impressive performance against the Red Foxes. The Connecticut native went eight strong innings and punched out nine batters. He only allowed one hit and one walk.

The Warriors were victorious in Sunday's rubber match, receiving a standout performance from Cole Yennaco

Yennaco, who has been a common sight out of the bullpen for the Warriors, entered the lineup as the day's designated hitter. He found the bases four times in the win over the Red Foxes, hitting a home run, single, and drawing two walks. If that wasn't enough, Yennaco moved over the mound to close out the game, allowing no hits and no runs.

Despite falling to the Skyhawks on Tuesday, Matt DeShiro lit up the stat sheet tallying two hits and four RBI. The next day, he increased his hit streak to 16 games, and on base to 32.

Joey Frammartino continues to be a consistent bat for the Warriors, still hitting over the .300 threshold. He leads the team in batting average, OPS (.952), and OBP (.481).

First baseman Greg Cristino had a two home run day against Stonehill earlier in the week. He leads the team with nine long balls, doubles (14), and RBI (40).

Cristino has driven in three RBI in two of his past six games, and has driven in at least one RBI in five of his last six.

Garrett McGovern carries a .299 average this season as a freshman. In his past two games, McGovern has tallied a total of four hits and two doubles.

Brooke Craigue has tallied 44 this season and has a .286 batting average. He has nine doubles and three home runs.

The Warriors and Mountaineers start the series Friday at 3 p.m, and then play Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m noon.
