BOSTON – Björn Hedegaard-Friis set the tone for the Merrimack men's tennis team as the Warriors opened their season at the Boston Invitational over the weekend.
The Merrimack sophomore won both singles matches that he played during the two-day tournament, including a straight-set win over Boston University's Ege Topkoc (6-1, 6-2) and a three-set tiebreaker over Hamilton College's Zahaan Siddiqu (7-5, 5-7, 10-8).
Hedegaard-Friis also had a strong showing in his doubles match when he was paired with fellow sophomore Juan Carlos Portilla Morales. The duo linked up to take down Boston University's Ege Topkoc and David Dai (6-3).
The Warriors return to the court when they travel to Assumption on Wednesday with a match time of 3 p.m.
