NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's basketball program begins its three-game in five-day stretch on Tuesday evening when the Warriors welcome Southern New Hampshire to Hammel Court for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. Later in the week, Merrimack heads to Florida for the first time in 15 years for two games in the Terrace Hotel Classic against Florida Southern and Saint Leo.

Five Things to Know:
  • The Warriors employ one of the top defenses in the country, ranking second in the NE10 and fifth nationwide in scoring defense (57.3 ppg allowed). The Warriors have allowed under 70 points in three of four games this season, and limited Assumption to 42 points last week – the fewest allowed by the program in six years
  • Junior forward Idris Joyner is off to an extremely efficient start on the offensive end of the floor. He ranks second in the conference in field-goal percentage (76.9), and went 11-of-14 from the field in two games last week. Joyner posted a double-double against Bentley on Saturday, his first in the regular season in his career
  • Classmate Juvaris Hayes continues to be a do-it-all player for the Warriors, leading the team in points (18.8), rebounds (8.3), assists (6.0) and steals (3.0) per game through four contests. He ranks among the top-six in the NE10 in all four categories
  • As a team, Merrimack ranks fourth in the NE10 in steals per game (7.0), while they commit under 12 turnovers per contest, the fourth fewest in the league
  • In addition to Merrimack's stout scoring defense, the programs ranks among the top-five in the NE10 in both field-goal percentage defense (36.8) and three-point defense (29.2)
Series History:
  • Merrimack and SNHU have split each of the last two season series, with each home team winning the divisional meeting
  • Both of the Warriors' wins at Hammel over the last two years have come by double digits. Last season, Hayes (17), senior Ryan Boulter (16) and freshman Khalief Crawford (11) all score in double figures in last year's triumph
  • Two years ago, Merrimack upset the Penmen when they were ranked among the top-20 nationwide. Hayes stuffed the stat sheet with 19 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. Current seniors Boulter and Troy McLaughlin also combined for 40 points on 7-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc in the win
