NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The No. 6 Merrimack College men's soccer program will look to bounce back after their first loss of the year, traveling to American International College on Saturday, September 22, for a 5 p.m. start against the Yellow Jackets.

The Basics
Date/Time:
9/22, 5 p.m.
Records: Merrimack (4-1-0) | American International  (1-4-0)
Location: Abdow Field // Springfield, Mass.

Last Time Out:
  • In a rematch of the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Championship, Bentley immediately attacked in the first half, throwing a shot that was deflected out in the first 45 seconds of the game.
  • The ensuing corner kick for the Falcons resulted in a goal. A ball bending away from the net off the foot of Connor Mote found the head of Adam Watkins, who gave the home team a 1-0 lead.
  • Just over 10 minutes later, Merrimack had a great opportunity to score the equalizer. After a Warrior was taken down inside the 18, junior Aasmund Joedahl took the penalty kick that was saved by Bentley keeper David Price.
  • Only three more shots were taken combined from both teams before the halftime whistle blew.
  • Merrimack came out in the second half with a relit fire, throwing two shots on the first ten minutes.
  • The best opportunity came early in the second d half, when a ball crossed in to senior Lars Sund just missed the near post.
  • Bentley countered, and doubled their lead ensuing the opportunity. Nick Halliday netted the second when a through ball left his with just the goalkeeper to beat.
  • The Warriors fought back, and in the 73rd minute, were rewarded. A deep set piece from Sund was timed inside the six by junior Mirko Nufi, who outjumped the goalie and cut the lead in half.
  • The Warriors put two more shots on frame, but couldn't get the equalizer before the final buzzer.
