Five Things To Know
- Merrimack has turned the page to 2019 with four straight solid outings that have featured three wins in a row dating back to Saturday, Jan. 5 at No. 11 Northeastern. The Warriors' three-game winning streak is their longest since February of 2017, and they were an overtime game away from having won four straight.
- After shutting out No. 11 Northeastern on Jan. 5 to end a nine-game winless streak , the Warriors traveled to Ann Arbor and came away with the program's first-ever win against Michigan last Tuesday before a thorough 5-2 win over UConn last Saturday.
- Including ties, Merrimack has played 10 one-goal games on the season, among the most by any team nationwide. The Warriors are 0-2-1 in overtime this year.
- Five of Merrimack's top-seven scorers are juniors, headlined by Tyler Irvine's 16 points (5g, 11a), which are a new career-high. Freshman Chase Gresock is up to 15 points (6g, 9a), second most on the team. The three players on the scoresheet are all juniors as well: Johnathan Kovacevic ranks third on the team in overall scoring and is the most productive blueliner with 12 points (4g, 8a) followed by classmates Patrick Kramer (5g, 4a), Sami Tavernier (2g, 7a) and Logan Coomes (1g, 7a).
- Merrimack and UNH will conclude the season series Friday night with the Warriors looking for the split. The Wildcats won the series opener in overtime on Jan. 4, 2-1.
