NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – A familiar foe in recent years to Hammel Court will return to campus on Wednesday when the Merrimack College men's basketball program welcomes the University of New Haven for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on campus. The Chargers and Warriors have meet in each of the last two Northeast-10 Conference Championships, with each program winning once apiece.

Promotions:
  • Fuddruckers will be attendance at Wednesday's game, serving complimentary hot chocolate and cookies to all fans in attendance in the Hall of Fame Lobby outside of Hammel Court! The local establishment and Merrimack Athletics sponsor will also award a special prize for the winner of tomorrow's halftime contest.
Five Things to Know:
  • The Warriors outscored Le Moyne by 19 over the final 11:14 of Saturday's home game, topping the Dolphins by 14 (76-62) to avenge last year's NE10 Semifinal defeat. Senior Ryan Boulter posted one of his best efforts of the season, scoring 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting to go along with six 3-pointers. Junior Juvaris Hayes filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, eight assists and seven steals
  • Merrimack improved to 4-1 this season when Boulter scores at least 20 points. Both Boulter and Hayes continue to rise of the program's all-time scoring list; the former is 34th in school history with 1,220 career points while the latter ranks 22nd all-time. Hayes needs 48 points to become the 20th player at Merrimack with 1,400 career points
  • Hayes was recently named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List for the second straight year. The Bevo Francis is awarded to the top "small college basketball player" nationwide, encompassing NCAA Division II, III, the NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA.
  • The junior tandem of Idris Joyner and Jaleel Lord continue to provide secondary scoring. Joyner is averaging 10.1 points and a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game, shooting a team-high 64.9 percent from the field. Lord is one of the league's top deep threats, sinking 47 3-pointers which ranks fourth in the NE10. Boulter and Lord have combined to hit 101 treys, the second most of any tandem in the East Region
  • Merrimack and New Haven have faced each other four times in the last two years, despite playing in opposite divisions. The Warriors have hosted the Chargers in back-to-back NE10 Championships; the 2016-17 season saw New Haven upset Merrimack in the NE10 First Round while the Warriors blew out the Chargers last year in the NE10 Quarterfinals, 75-59
Series History:
  • Merrimack boasts a 22-15 advantage over New Haven over 37 meetings between the two programs
  • Last year's playoff meeting saw Merrimack turn a five-point halftime lead into a 16-point win. Boulter led Merrimack with 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting from deep while Hayes notched a double-double of 11 points and 15 assists
  • New Haven bested Merrimack in the regular season, however, winning a two-point game in Connecticut (77-75)
