Five Things To Know:
-
Merrimack's opening weekend saw the Warriors play a pair of games at Lake Superior State University. The program visited the Lakers for just the second time in school history and first time in three decades. Merrimack dropped the first game, 6-2, before a near-victory in the second game, 4-3. The Lakers entered the year off a 23-win campaign in 2018-19
-
The freshman defensive pairing of Zach Uens and Declan Carlile impressed; Uens emerged from the weekend with a team-best three points (1g, 2a) while Carlile posted two helpers, as well. Sophomore captain Chase Gresock scored two goals in the opening game while seniors Tyler Irvine and Patrick Kramer also emerged with multi-point weekends
-
Merrimack hosts Wisconsin for the second time in the last three years; the Badgers came in Lawler Rink in 2017 and came away with a 4-1 victory.
-
The Warriors are 1-3 in four previous meetings with the Badgers. The Warriors played a two-game series in Madison in 2016, claiming a 2-0 victory in the second game
-
Wisconsin plays its first games of the season this weekend, beginning with a single contest at Boston College on Friday. The Badgers are ranked in both the USCHO national poll and the USA Today Media poll to start the year
