SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Merrimack College men's cross country program raced on Saturday at the Shawn Nassaney Invitational at Bryant University, competing against mostly Division I competition in the program's first-ever meet as a Division I institution.

Senior captain Noah Davis was Merrimack's top finisher on the day, ranking in 17th while the Warriors placed in seventh overall among the 11 teams at the meet.

The Basics
Results: 7th/11
Top Finisher: Noah Davis (17th – 26:03.8)
Location: Smithfield, R.I. | Bryant University

What They Said:
Head coach Chris Cameron: "Overall, we received some good performances from our men today. Moving forward, we'll need to tighten the gap between the No. 1-5 runners, and the No. 5-7 runners. I'm really pleased with the effort, and now we'll have a good block of training – three weeks – before we're back in action."

How It Happened:
  • Davis finished in 17th overall with a time of 26.03.8, and was Merrimack's top runner of the day. He also ranked ahead of any runner from Bryant, the only other NEC institution competing at Saturday's meet
  • Junior Gunnar Hasselquist ranked just behind Davis with a time of 26:39.1, which was good for a top-40 ranking overall. Six seconds later, sophomore TJ Corliss completed the 8K run to complete the Warriors' top three
  • Junior Ben Forest (27:07.0), senior captain Brian Sardinskas (27:12.8), freshman Ryan Gamelin (27:13.5) and junior Ryan Sullivan (27:20.7) rounded out spots No. 4-7 for Merrimack
Up Next
Merrimack will have a couple weeks off before returning to action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when the Warriors run in the Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
