NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's track and field team had a strong first day of competition across preliminaries and final events on Saturday.

Meet Highlights:
- Aaron Gable had the top prelim finish for the Warriors on day 1, taking fourth in the 110m hurdles at 14.94, for a new personal record.
- Senior Dan Lovell had a strong day in the 400m hurdles, qualifying for the finals at 55.50, taking sixth in the preliminaries.
- Two Warriors will compete in the 1500m finals on Sunday after top-ten times in the 1500m, as TJ Corliss finished sixth at 4:11.12, and freshman Billy Coakley qualified with a 4:14.31 tenth overall time.
- In his longest race yet as a Warrior, freshman Colby Barnes finished seventh in the 10000m race at 32:15.83.
- Throwers also were successful on the day, as Travis Hunt had a 47.32m hammer throw and Nate Quaye had a 14.74m shot put to give both seventh finishes in their events.
- The 4x800m relay squad of Bail Sullivan, Maio and Kehoe finished sixth overall, crossing at 7:59.06.
- In the jumps, Eseosa Omuemu had a 6.47m long jump, with Omar Jasseh finishing behind him in the event with a 6.44m jump.
- Competing for the Warriors tomorrow in addition to today's qualifiers are: Omar Jasseh (triple jump), Drew Gardner (pole vault), CJ Chevalier (javelin), Ryan Nesta (javelin), Tim Walsh (5000m), Ryan Gamelin (5000m), as well as the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
