North Andover, MA – The Merrimack College women's soccer team was selected to finish in seventh place in their first season in the conference, but they did receive one first place vote in the MAAC women's soccer preseason poll that was released by the league office on Wednesday morning.
Quinnipiac led the way with ten first place votes, followed by Fairfield and Canisius who each received a sole first place vote to round out the top three. Niagara followed in fourth with fellow MAAC newcomers Sacred Heart in fifth, Rider sixth, and Merrimack receiving the 13
th and final first place vote in seventh. The rest of the field shows Mount St. Mary's in eighth, Siena in ninth, Marist in tenth, Manhattan in eleventh, St. Peters in twelfth and Iona rounding out the poll in last place.
The Warriors will open their season on the road against the UMass Lowell Riverhawks on August 15
th, they will play their first home game of the year against the Bryant Bulldogs on Sunday, September 1
st at noon.
