Kendra Daily set a new program record in the 50-yard freestyle and won the event as the Merrimack women's swimming team finished the opening day of the Gompei Invitational in third place.

Daily set a new program record of 23.66 as she became the first Merrimack swimmer to take first at the Gompei Invational.

"The team has been putting in work this fall, and it was great to see them get a chance to suit up and see how fast they could go," Merrimack head coach
Erin Cammann said. "We had some really good swims across the board, and it was fantastic to have Kendra pick up our first-ever first place finish."

Neva Sa took fourth in the 500 freestyle in 5:08.61) and
Julia Tejeda was seventh (5:16.59).

Cameron Zuliani took seventh in 100 butterfly (59.11) and took ninth in the 50 freestyle.Â

Camila De La Rosa placed eighth in the 200 breast (2:28.07) and
Casey Bednarek finished eighth in the 100 fly in 59.41 seconds.

The 800 freestyle relay of
Neva Sa, De La Rosa, Tejeda and Bednarek took fourth in 7:58.83.
