WORCESTER, MA - Seniors Neva Sa, Kendra Daily and freshman Kali Alexa each set program records on the second day of the Gompei Invitational.
Sa swam 1:52.89 in the 200-yard freestyle to finish second and Daily set a school record for the second time in as many days, this time finishing the 100 backstroke in 57.38. Daily had posted a new program record of 26.33 in the 50 freestyle Friday. Daily also took fifth in the 50 butterfly (26.15).
Alexa set the program record for the 11-dive program with a score of 375.25 to win the 1-meter dive, while freshman Sophia Ferrara took second (363.75).
"This was a great team day for us," Merrimack head coach Erin Cammann said. "From Kali and Sophia going 1-2 in the dive to Kendra and Neva shattering program records, we had some excellent performances. The team is getting valuable experience in a championship setting, and I'm extremely pleased with their performance."
Sophomore Camila De La Rosa placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.31 and freshman Julia Tejeda took seventh in the 400 IM (4:447.70). Senior Cameron Zuliani was seventh (26.61) and freshman Abby Condon took ninth (26.78) in the 50 butterfly. Senior Casey Bednarek finished 10th in the 200 freestyle relay (2:01.22) and freshman Liz Vursta was 10th in the 100 back in 1:00.91.
The third and final day of the Gompei Invitational is Sunday.
