NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Merrimack College women's track & field team finished sixth at the MAAC Conference Championships this weekend. The Warriors recorded 38 points to top five conference competitors.
How it Happened I Saturday February 22
- Ava Mahoney finished fourth in the women's mile with a time of 5:10.70 and qualified for the finals set to take place Sunday February 23. Teammate Lily Thomas placed 16th in the event crossing the line in 5:15.43.
- Jahaida Gabriel came in second in the 60m dash, with a new PB time of 7.60 seconds and will advance to the finals.
- Gabriel also competed in the 200m where she finished third in 24.83 seconds to qualify for the 200m finals. Sydney Connolly finished 16th overall in the 200m with a time of 25.77 seconds. Madison DeCamp finished 30th in the event, finishing in 26.80 seconds.
- Riley Paskow placed sixth in the 400m dash, with a qualifying time of 57.96 seconds, a new personal record.
- In the women's 5000m run, Maci Chapman finished 13th with a season low 18:11.68 5k time. Olivia Beaudet was not far behind, navigating the distance in 18:29.41 to take 22.
- The women's DMR tandem of Marianna Collins, Isabella Tomic, Courtney Hinchion, Caroline White, Riley Paskow, and Angelina Zaykovskaya placed 7th overall with a time of 12:36.53, which added two points to the Warriors total.
- Anya Cunningham came up big in women's weight throw, finishing 8th with a mark of 14.11m. Makayla Champagne also found success in the event, tossing for 14.07m to finish in 9th in a field of 25 top competitors in the MAAC.
- Grace Bleyer produced a 9th place finish in long jump with a mark of 5.43m.
- In women's high jump, Elizabeth Murphy placed 9th, clearing 1.54m.
- After day one of competition, the women's team is tied for eighth with three points, behind the Marist College Red Foxes.
How it Happened I Sunday February 23
- Ava Mahoney finished fourth in the women's mile finals with a time of 4:57.59. Mahoney also participated in the women's 3000m run where she finished 10th in 10:00.34.
- Jahaida Gabriel placed second in the 60m dash finals with a time of 7.64 seconds. Gabriel also took second in the 200m finals with a PB time of 24.64.
- Riley Paskow raced 57.95 in the 400m finals for a fourth-place finish.
- In the field, Makayla Champagne finished 14th, tossing for 10.71m. Teammate Caitlin Garrahy placed 19th with a mark of 10.40m.
- Grace Bleyer finished 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.11m while Lauren Boughner placed 16th (10.75m).
- The 4x400m relay squad of Sydney Connolly, Isabella Tomic, Jahaida Gabriel, Riley Paskow, and Angelina Zaykovskaya finished in third with a time of 3:54.47.
- The 4x800m relay team of Caroline White, Lily Thomas, Marianna Collins, Ava Mahoney, Courtney Hinchion, and Angelina Zaykovskaya placed sixth with a time of 9:25.44.
