NORTH ANDOVER, MA- The Merrimack men's volleyball team beat the AIC Yellow Jackets in three straight sets in their 2025 home opener on February 7th.

How it Happened
The first set got off to a hot start for the Warriors, going up 6-2 quickly. Kills from Ephraim Abhulime, Kai Vogel, and Nick Tidik would help cement the lead for the blue and gold. Halfway through the set, a slew of blocks and attack errors from the Yellow Jackets would put the Warriors up 17-11. Merrimack's momentum would force AIC to call a timeout. The roof would come into play a lot, as the Yellow Jackets fell victim to a number of points going the Warriors way due to the low ceiling. Logan Whitaker would have a key block at the end of the set which would propel the Warriors to take set 1 by a score of 25-14.
The second set saw the Warriors taking control again, going up 5-1 early. Kills from
Dallas Birkenbeuel,
Chris U'Glay, and
Kasen Owens would be instrumental to the Warrior's success.
Kai Vogel would provide a spark and contribute three kills on three straight touches halfway through the set. The blue and gold would put the cherry on top of the second frame with a kill from
Ephraim Abhulime to solidify the set victory, 25-14.
The third set saw Merrimack take off with another hot start, going up 6-1 and forcing the Yellow Jackets to use another timeout. Kills from
Isaiah Vogel and
Nathan Knapp would fuel the Warrior's firepower.
Davis McCurdy and
Blake Taschner would get kills and service aces and provide the Warriors with some points.
John Clinton would also make the score sheet with a kill. It would be a service ace from
Nathan Knapp that would clinch the third set win 25-15 and the match victory for the Warriors.
