CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – The Merrimack College men's indoor track & field team competed in the Crimson Open hosted by Harvard College on Saturday. A trio of Warriors etched their names in Merrimack history, breaking three school records.
How it Happened
- John Elie Jr. won the men's 60m Hurdles with a new PB time of 8.11 seconds. Elie Jr. holds the school record in the event.
- Tyler Fortune won the men's 60m dash with a PB time of 6.91. Fortune's time also ties the current program record. Justin Franco also found success in the 60m dash, finishing 9th in 7:09.
- Daniel Blatman won the men's weight throw with a mark of 17.98m (59-0), with that, Blatman holds the new school record in weight throw.
- Jared Ptaszek also found success in weight throw, tossing for 17.03m (55-10 ½).
- Merrimack secured the top-two spots in the men's 3000m with Aidan Dupill winning the event with a time of 8:38.80 while teammate Sean Moore finished second in 8:50.77.
- Jack Lombardi finished fourth in the mile with a time of 4:22.39, while Michael Alleva crossed the line in 4:28.39 to take seventh.
- Maddox Merlo tabbed seventh place in the 400m with a time of 51.23 while teammate Jadis Yarbrough finished top-15 in the event with a time of 52.60.
- Three Warriors finished in the top-10 in the men's 800m. Owen Schultz crossed the line in 1:58.42 to take fifth place. Reidar Aageson clocked in at 1:59.76 for seventh place with teammate Luke Llewellyn right on his heels (1:59.99).
- In triple jump, Evan Thevenot produced a second place finish with a mark of 13.03m (42-9).
- Kyle Adams and Owen LaRoss finished fourth and fifth respectively in the shot put. Adams threw for 13.30m (43-7 ¾) and LaRoss hit 13.18m (43-3).
- The 4x440 squad of Jadis Yarbrough, Carson Mighty, Blake Hickey, and Maddox Merlo secured a fourth place finish with a time of 3:32.79.
