SMITHFIELD, R.I. The Merrimack women's track and field team competed in the two-day Black & Gold Invitational hosted by Bryant University at the Track and Turf Complex on Friday and Saturday.
How it Happened I Friday March 28
- Maci Chapman turned in an impressive performance in the women's 10000m run, finishing sixth in a field of 21 athletes. Chapman crossed the line in 37:26.71 for a PR in the event.
- In the women's hammer throw, Anya Cunningham placed second in a field of 40 competitors with a mark of 46.93m.
- Olivia Beaudet also found success in the 5000m, clocking in at 38:44.66 for a top-10 finish.
- In women's discus, Cameron Zuliani cracked the top-15, tossing for 36.07m while Makayla Champagne finished 18th with a mark of 34.21m. Caitlin Garrahy recorded a mark of 32.77m, good for 21st.
How it Happened I Saturday March 29
- Jahaida Gabriel won the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.37 seconds. Sydney Connolly finished top five in the event, clocking in at 12.72.
- Gabriel also placed first in the 200m dash with a time of 25.38 seconds with Sydney Conolly right on her heels. Connolly finished third in 25.82 seconds.
- Isabella Tomic placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:07.50.
- Riley Paskow cracked the top five in the women's 200m dash, crossing the line in 26.14. Paskow also placed third in the women's long jump, registering a mark of 5.16m.
- Lily Thomas finished top-four in the women's 3000m run with a time of 12:04.44.
- Grace Bleyer and Madison DeCamp were neck and neck in the 100m dash. Bleyer finished 11th, punching in at 12.98 seconds while DeCamp took 12th, racing 13.05 seconds.
- In the women's 5000m Briana Farrell paved the way for the Warriors, crossing the line with a PR time of 19:11.83, good for fourth place. Kristina Ponzio turned in an impressive performance, finishing seventh in 19:22.14.
- In the women's 1500m, Caroline white placed 26th with a time of 5:00.99 while teammate Marianna Collins finished 28th with a time of 5:02.13. Casey Bednarek was the third Warriors to cross the line, finishing 33rd with a time of 5:06.75.
- Kiera O'Brien cracked the top-20 in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.95. Jacqueline Perry also found success in the event, placing 21st with a time of 18.14.
- Lauren Boughner turned in an impressive run in the long jump, hitting a mark of 5.13m for fifth place. Boughner also participated in triple jump where she finished runner-up with a mark of 10.46m.
- Grace Bleyer finished fourth in triple jump with a mark of 10.35m.
- Caroline White finished 22nd in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:26.48.
- Cameron Zuliani placed fifth in shot put, tossing for 11.13m.
- Merrimack's 4x100m relay tandem of Sydney Connolly, Riley Paskow, Madison DeCamp, and Jahaida Gabriel finished fourth with a time of 48.67.
