HOOKSETT, N.H. -- The Merrimack College men's tennis team fell to Southern New Hampshire University, 4-3, in a duel match Tuesday afternoon.
Juan Carlos Morales, Tarik Zubovic and Bjorn Hedegaard Friis earned wins in their matches at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles and No. 3 singles, respectively. Hedegaard-Friis remains unbeaten in singles matches this season. The freshman Zubovic earned a three-set tiebreaker against the Penmen after he came back from a 5-4 deficit in the tiebreaker, which impressed Merrimack head coach Cory Erikson and the squad.
"I've been very happy with Tarik Zubovic's work ethic and ability to immediately make an impact on the college level," Erikson said. "He arrived earlier this fall hungry and ready to put the work in. His willingness to win and drive to be better is something that is rare in freshmen. His win showcased his talent and ability to stay in a match. Coming back from down a break 4-5 in the second set is truly special and something not many freshmen can do. I'm very excited to see what he brings for the rest of the year."
The Warriors return to action when they travel to Quinnipiac University and take part in the 2026 Metro Masters Tournament starting Friday.
