NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The No. 2 Merrimack College men's lacrosse team seeks its seventh straight win in its final scheduled road game of the regular season on Tuesday (April 17), as the Warriors travel to Assumption College for a 7 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Mutli-Sport Stadium.

  • Merrimack enters the week ranked No. 2 in the USILA Coaches' Poll. It was No. 1 during a four-week span and has been no lower than second all year.
  • As is usually the case, the Warriors have faced plenty of the nation's top programs this year, as seven other schools that are on Merrimack's schedule are also ranked in this week's poll.
  • The Warriors have already NYIT (ranked eighth when they played), LIU Post (12), Le Moyne (2) and Pace (9) and are yet to face Adelphi (6). Saint Anselm is ranked 20th but was not ranked when the two schools played.
'Mack Facts:
  • Merrimack (10-1, 7-1 NE10) leas the NE10 in scoring offense (14.64) and ranks third in defense (7.64) and also boasts the ninth-best man-down defense in the country (80.0%) and 13th-best man-up offense (39.3%).
  • Freshman Sean Black (57 points) leads all Warriors on the offensive front with 23 goals and 34 assists. He ranks first in the league in assists and in overall scoring. His 3.09 assists per game figure ranks second nationally and scoring average (5.18) ranks sixth.
  • Sophomore Charlie Bertrand, meanwhile, is the league leader in goals scored (39), ranking third nationally in goals per game (3.90).
  • Senior Blake Boudreau has won 171-of-245 on the X (.698) as Merrimack's primary faceoff man, ranking fifth nationally and first in the NE10 in faceoff win percentage. He ranks seventh nationally and first in the NE10 averaging 9.27 ground balls per game.
  • Seniors James Bassett, reigning USILA Defensive Player of the Year, and Eric Coburn lead the Warriors defensively with nine and 10 caused turnovers, respectively.
  • In net, freshman Peter Brown has started the last nine games and has been solid, posting a 6.02 goals against average (2nd/NE10) and .526 save percentage in that span.
  • Merrimack has won the last 22 games it has scored 10 or more goals in; its last loss when posting a double-digit scoring total was in double overtime against Le Moyne (12-11) on March 18, 2017.
Scouting Assumption:
  • Picked eighth in the preseason coaches' poll in the NE10, Assumption has exceeded those expectations and is 7-3 with a 5-3 record in league play heading into Tuesday.
  • The Greyhounds rank fifth in the league in scoring offense (12.30) and sixth in scoring defense (8.98).
  • The Greyhounds have two 40-point scorers led by Dan Farrell's 48 points (29g, 19a) followed by Travis Reid (26g, 17a, 43pts).
  • Connor Reid is the primary faceoff man and has gone 121-of-225 (53.7%) on the X with 65 ground balls. Tim Tierney, meanwhile, has caused a team-high 20 turnovers.
  • Colby Hamwey has started all 10 games and owns an 8.65 GAA and .565 SV%.
