LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. --
Jack Salva scored twice and
Alystair Hemberger tallied a pair of second-half goals, but it wasn't enough as the Merrimack men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-11 loss against top-seeded Siena in the MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championships on Thursday afternoon.
The No. 4 Warriors, who entered the semifinal matchup having won five straight, concluded their season 7-9.
"I was definitely proud of the way we competed," Merrimack head coach Mike Sciamanna said after the game. "Definitely proud of the way our guys performed."
Merrimack took a 6-4 lead on
Colin Kruger's second goal of the game, which came with 3:57 left in the first half. The Saints, however, closed the half with three goals in the final two minutes and took a 7-6 edge into the break.
Salva tied it up, 7-7, just 2:07 into the third quarter but Merrimack never led in the second half.
The Warriors had possession in the final minute of the one-goal game, but a late shot sounded off the crossbar and helped the Saints hold on.
