NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's basketball team will look for its sixth win in seven tries on Tuesday night when the Warriors venture to Long Island, facing Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference cross-divisional play. Tip-off from the Center for Recreation and Sport is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The matchup pits the Northeast Division's second-best scoring defense against the Southwest Division's top scoring offense.

Five Things to Know:
  • After seeing its season-long four-game winning streak end on Wednesday, the Warriors got back on track with a nine-point (76-67) over Pace University on Saturday. Merrimack started off on fire, beginning the game on a 12-0 run while holding the Setters under 20 points in the first half. The hosts led by as many as 22 in the second half, and held on a hard-charging Pace squad that cut its deficit to two, 65-63, with under five minutes to play. Senior Ryan Boulter finished with 12 points in the game while junior Juvaris Hayes led the way with 17 on 5-of-8 shooting and seven makes at the line
  • Merrimack's defense has worked its way up to sixth overall in the conference and second in the division, allowing 69.3 points per contest. The Warriors' 9.9 steals per game leads the NE10, and the Warriors are atop the league in turnovers forced (18.1/gam)
  • Hayes currently ranks sixth in the NE10 and tied for ninth in the region with an average of 20.1 points per game, which is on pace for a career high. Hayes' 127 field goals ranks second in the region, and is one off the region lead. Boulter moved into a tie for second in the region, and is second in the league with 46 triples made
  • Teammates Idris Joyner and Jaleel Lord join Boulter and Hayes among the region's leaders in various areas. The former is second in the East by shooting over 65 percent from the field while the latter is fifth in three-pointers made (43). Both juniors are averaging in double figures, Joyner at 10.0 points per game and Lord at 11.9 points per contest
  • Adelphi enters Tuesday off an impressive nine-point win, 98-89, against #9/15 Saint Anselm. The Panthers shot 56 percent from distance, knocking in 14 triples against the Hawks. Five Panthers scored in double figures led by 26 points from Conor McGuinness. Adelphi boasts the Southwest's top offense at 82.6 points per game
Series History:
  • Merrimack will aim to even the all-time series against the Panthers (9-10) in the 20th meeting between the Warriors and Panthers tomorrow
  • In the tenure of head coach Joe Gallo, Merrimack has yet to lose to Adelphi; the two contests, however have been decided by four points of less. Last year's game went to overtime, a 92-89 Merrimack win, while the Warriors' last trip to Garden City resulted in an 81-77 triumph
  • Hayes dominated last season's meeting, totaling a career-best 35 points on 14-of-24 shooting to go along with 10 assists and five steals. Sophomore Khalief Crawford contributed 17 points, making 8-of-11 attempts
