NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The No. 7 Merrimack College men's lacrosse team will open its Northeast-10 Conference slate on the road against the College of Saint Rose on Saturday (March 16). Game time from the Plumeri Sports Complex is set for 1 p .m.
Five Things to Know:
- Merrimack's offense has picked up right where it left off from a historic 2018 season by averaging 17.33 goals per game to represent the nation's fourth-best scoring offense (and second in the conference). The Warriors have scored no fewer than 16 goals in each of their first three games. They also boast the nation's top-ranked man-up offense that converts at 60 percent.
- Junior Charlie Bertrand continues to back up his status as one of the nation's best overall players with a team-leading 30 points on the strength of 21 goals and nine assists in only three games. He has 22 games in his last two contests, including a historic 12-point outing last Saturday at LIU Post to earn NE10 Player of the Week honors for the first time this year. He leads the country in points per game (10.0) and goals per game (7.00) and ranks fifth in assists per game (3.00).
- Merrimack has won 17 straight games at home, the longest active home winning streak in the country. The last time the Warriors lost a game at home was on March 18, 2017. The Warriors have also won 11 straight against NE10 foes, the longest active streak in the NE10 and fourth-longest conference winning streak nationally.
- The Warriors have also taken care of the ball well, as indicated by their nation-low 10.0 turnovers per game and an 88.4-percent clearing percentage (7th/NCAA).
- Merrimack is a perfect 7-0 all-time against Saint Rose in a series that dates back to 2012. Last year, the Warriors topped the Golden Knights by a 12-5 score at home. Saint Rose is off to a 1-3 start on the season, its one win against Post University (14-10); it most recently fell at home against SNHU last Saturday. Carter Badour's 21 points and 15 goals lead the Golden Knights; Nicolas Johnson owns a 68.8-percent clip on the faceoff X (77of-112), while Matthew Gill has started every game in net and owns a .509 save percentage and 13.85 goals against.
