NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Alone in first place with a perfect league record, the Merrimack College men's lacrosse team opens a critical week against a pair of nationally ranked conferences foes when it battles No. 19 Assumption College on Tuesday afternoon at Duane Stadium. While game time is set for 4 p.m., the program will honor its senior graduating seniors before the game as part of Senior Day.
BEER GARDENS AVAILABLE FOR HOME GAMES
Merrimack is pleased to offer a 21+ Beer Garden on the stadium patio for all home men's lacrosse games (opposite the press box side, closest to the Merrimack Athletics Complex). The patio opens one hour before faceoff and closes at the end of the third quarter. Light snacks are also available for purchase.
Five Things to Know:
- Merrimack picked up another convincing win against a nationally ranked opponent when it cruised to a 14-5 home win against No. 9 Pace on Saturday afternoon. Three different Warriors had hat tricks on offense while sophomore Sean Black finished with five points, while junior Nick Ponte made 14 saves on the other end.
- Recording no fewer than 12 goals in any game this season, Merrimack owns the NE10's best scoring offense (and the country's third-best), averaging 17.36 goals per game. They also boast the nation's top-ranked man-up offense that converts at 53.5 percent. The Warriors have also taken care of the ball well, as indicated by their 14.64 turnovers per game (fifth-fewest in the country) and an 83.3-percent clearing percentage that ranks 28th nationally.
- Junior Charlie Bertrand continues to back up his status as one of the nation's best overall players with a team-leading 70 points on the strength of 55 goals and 15 assists in eight games. He leads the country in points per game (7.00) and goals per game (5.50), while Black leads the country in assists per game (3.90) and ranks second in scoring average (6.20), behind only Bertrand. Classmate Christian Thomas, who has 25 points in his last four games alone (13g, 12a), ranks 13th nationally in assists average, as well (2.36).
- Merrimack has won 21 straight games at home, the longest active home winning streak in the country. The last time the Warriors lost a game at home was on March 18, 2017. The Warriors have also won 19 straight against NE10 foes, the longest active streak in the NE10 and the country.
- Merrimack has never lost in 23 tries against Assumption. The Greyhounds enter Tuesday at 8-4 overall (5-3 NE10) and sixth in the league standings. Seniors Travis Reid and Dan Farrell both have 50-plus points, led by the former's 65 (37g, 28a).
