NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's and women's track and field teams had a flurry of strong performances across events at the Southern Maine Open over the weekend.

Weekend Highlights:
- The men's team took second place out of ten competing schools, while the women finished seventh overall.
- For the men, Drew Gardner took third place in the pole vault at 4.40m.
- Freshman Nate Quaye once again was exceptional with his throws—taking first place in the shot put at 14.78m and second in the weight throw at 15.22m.
- Carson Doody finished second in triple jump at 13.24m, and was joined in a top finish by Pat Whyte who earned third in the triple jump at 1.98m.
- Aaron Gable earned a fifth place finish in the prelims, and seventh in the hurdles finals at 8.25.
- For the women, Gabrielle Eldridge was third place in shot put at 12.06m.
- Taylor Jax finished seventh in the shot put, setting personal bests in the weight throw and shot put. Her finishes for both are now third on the all-time program list.
- Hannah Flores was top five on the program records with a shot put of 9.82m.
- Mariah Fernandez and Rylee Ducharme were third and fourth respectively in the 1000m.
- Senior Khori Jones was fifth in the long jump at 5.00m and fourth in triple jump at 10.80m.
Up Next:
Qualifying team members will compete at the New England Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, while other members of the team will race at the Wesleyan Invitational on Feb. 1.
